From living ponds to contemporary biopools

There is no single way to create a natural swimming environment. Fluidra solutions range from 100% chlorine-free swimming ponds where plants, flora and fauna form an essential part of the ecosystem to minimalist low-chlorine biopools that look much like conventional pools.

Depending on the desired experience, projects can prioritize nature, crystal-clear water, reduced maintenance or a more architectural design—all while relying primarily on biological and mechanical water treatment.

Water treatment inspired by nature

Instead of relying on conventional chlorination, swimming ponds and biopools use a combination of natural and technological processes with low environmental impact. Depending on the system, water treatment can include plants, mechanical filtration, beneficial bacteria, UV-C lamps, phosphate removal and low-salt electrolysis.

The heart of the system are biomechanical bead filters. Instead of sand or glass, it uses small plastic beads where beneficial bacteria grow, removing very fine particles and helping to ensure clear water and efficient operation.

A complete ecosystem of solutions

Each project can combine the technology required for its specific level of water quality and maintenance, including pumps, bottom drains, skimmers, sieve and bead filters, UV-C systems, phosphate control and low-salt hydrolysis.
